Dr. Dmitry Aminin, Biology Doctor (Ph.D.- biology, biochemistry), now is a Head of the Laboratory of bioassay and mechanism of action of biologically active compounds, G.B. Elyakov Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Far East Division of Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of Editorial Board of "Pharmacologia" international journal, Member of Editorial Board of "Jacobs Journal of Allergy and Immunology", Member of Editorial Board of “Global Journal of Cancer Therapy”. He has served as a Member of Russian Biochemical Society (National Committee of Russian Biochemist) and a Member of The Scientific Council of the G.B. Elyakov Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. He Graduated from Department of Far East State University, faculty of Biology, Chair of Biochemistry in 1979 and got his Biology Doctor's degree (Ph.D.) at G.B. Elyakov Pacific Institute of bioorganic chemistry (Vladivostok, Russia) in 1988. During the period of 1981-2013 Dr. Aminin has participated in a number of Scientific expeditions aboard research vessels “Professor Bogorov” and “Academician Oparin” to the Indian Ocean, Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean, has attended International Canadian-American scientific expedition onboard R/V "Vector" (Canada) in 2000, Russian-American scientific expedition to the Baikal Lake (Russia) in 1989. His activity field includes biochemistry, cell biology, structure and function of biological membranes, toxicology, ecotoxicology and biomarkers. Interest lies in the field of study of action pattern of biologically active compounds from terrestrial plants and marine animals, invertebrates, microorganisms and algae, and synthetic substances. He is an internationally recognized expert in area of new drug discovery. Dr. Aminin has over 100 scientific publications and projects either presented or published. Recent publications include papers on the investigation of action mechanism and biological function of some physiologically active triterpene glycosides isolated from holothurians (sea cucumbers).
Dmitry L Aminin Interest lies in the field of new drug discovery and study of action pattern of biologically active compounds from terrestrial plants and marine animals, invertebrates, microorganisms and algae, and synthetic substances. This work includes application of various methods such as the technique of radioisotopes, fluorescent microscopy and spectroscopy, fluorescent flow cytometry, microcytofluorimetry, cell image analysis, ion - selective electrodes, electrophysiology methods, MRI-tomography, etc., hich afford evaluation of interaction of substances with various types of cells, biological and model lipid membranes. The channel - forming compounds and the regulation of Ca2 -channels by natural substances are of particular interest. We perform our studies using some cell cultures of human and mammals, embryos of marine invertebrates (Ehinodermata) and microorganism. We screen for chemicals with antimicrobial, antiviral and anticancer activity. The quest for new regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis is of interest also.
