Biography

Dr. Guillermo Antonio Díaz-Araya (PharmD, Ph.D) is Associate Professor and Director of Chemical Pharmacology and Toxicology Department, at the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty, University of Chile. He accomplished his Ph.D in Biological Sciences at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM, Madrid, Spain). Scientifically, my field of expertise covers the study of cardiovascular pharmacology using in vitro and in vivo models. I specialize in the study of cardiac fibroblast function associate to cardiac fibrosis development. In particular, we have studied a broad class of receptors, which are key in the secretion of extracellular matrix proteins, growth factors, cytokines, chemokines and molecular adhesion proteins. My recent research is focused in the cardiac fibroblast interaction with immune cells. My field of interest includes receptors, signal transduction pathways, and apoptotic pathways involved in cardiac fibroblast function. I has outstanding scientific accomplishments with multiple research projects, publications in prestigious journals.
