Dr. Cristobal Espinosa started his research activity on 2006 on 'Nutrition Lab’ team (University of Murcia, Spain), where he collaborated in the development of a project first as student, but after he did his Master thesis and PhD thesis. In this period (2006-2015), he was able to set up and develop different techniques for the evaluation of antioxidant, polyphenols and oxidative stress. He finished my PhD in antioxidant and oxidative stress at the University of Murcia (Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Salvador Zamora Navarro. After finish his PhD, Dr. Espinosa started to work as researcher on “Nonspecific immune system of teleost fish” group (University of Murcia, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Maria Angeles Esteban. These period (2015-2017) gave him, not only the opportunity of learn different techniques of molecular biology, cell biology, histology, immunology and cell culture but in addition gave him the chance to connect the knowledge in antioxidants and oxidative stress and stablish new relationships with immune system from fish. Dr. Espinosa collaborated on 4 projects, maybe the most important was the European project EPHEMARE, on microplastics. In 2017, Dr. Espinosa obtained a position as a researcher in the Department of Earth and Marine Science (DiSTeM) (University of Palermo, Italy) where he still works with Prof. Concetta M. Messina in the national project CISAS “International centre of advanced study in environment, ecosystem and human health”. These period has provided him the opportunity of apply his experience on antioxidants and immune system of marine organism on the evaluation of ecotoxicological effects of new emerging contaminants on the marine environment.
Dr. Cristobal Espinos research interests are Immune system, Toxicology, Microplastics, Oxidative stress, Antioxidants, Nutrition, Probiotics, Aquaculture.
