Byeong-Churl Jang was born in Chun-cheon, South Korea in 1967. He received B.Sc. at Department of Food Science and Technology, Chungnam National University, South Korea in 1993. During 1988-1990, he served as an army for his nation. To pursue Ph.D. degree, he moved to USA to join Dr. D. Hwang’s research group at Pennington Biomedical Research Center/Department of Food Science in Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La, USA where he studied on expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages. In 1999, he received the Ph.D. degree and joined Prof. T. Hla’s research group at Center for Vascular Biology, University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, CT, USA for the postdoctoral studies where he worked on post-transcriptional regulation of COX-2 and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P)/its receptor-related angiogenesis. In 2002-2017, he worked as Research Professor, Full-time Instructor, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor at Department of Molecular Medicine, School of Medicine, Keimyung University, Daegu, South Korea. Currently he is working as Professor in Keimyung University.
Byeong-Churl Jang Research Interests are Screening of novel natural/synthetic chemicals and functional foods/nutrients (anti-cancer, anti-obesity, anti-inflammation); Adipocyte differentiation (adipogenesis); Apoptosis.
