Maria Ilies is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Faculty of Pharmacy, "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She completed her PhD at the same university, in the field of Proteomics, with the thesis entitled “Proteome-based plasma biomarker studies for pancreatic diseases”. She was trained in the field of Proteomics at the Interfaculty Institute for Genetics and Functional Genomics, Greifswald, Germany. Head of department, Prof. Uwe Völker and scientist Dr. Elke Hammer guided her reseach projects and she gained a wide spectrum of proteomics skills. She is now specialized in identification, characterization and quantification of proteins from diverse matrices, such as biofluids (plasma, serum), tissue lyzates, cell lyzates and cell supernatants. She is also well trained in applying, developing and optimizing techniques such as SDS-PAGE, WesternBlot, ELISA, nano-LC-MS/MS, with a special focus on data independent acquisition. She is currently applying these techniques in several biomarker studies, her main interest being the pancreatic diseases, with a special focus on pancreatic cancer and its early detection.
Maria Ilies Research interests are High throughput proteomic method development, proteome analysis, biomarker, pancreatic diseases.
