Dr. Israt Ara Hossain is presently serving as a Sr. lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Bangladesh University of Health sciences (BUHS) which is an enterprise of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh. With an MPhil, MSc and BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology under the University of Dhaka as well as Rajshahi respectively, her major research areas include pathophysiology of diabetes, prediabetes, subclinical inflammation, adipocytokines and NAFLD in Bangladeshi population. She has thirteen (13) full articles (International) among these seven as first author and two supplementary articles and out of 16 abstracts/posters she has delivered 5 presentations in regional/international conferences in home and abroad. She has been awarded for International Summer School (ISS) Program under the course of International Community Health, University of Oslo, Norway. Ms Israt has also been awarded with Fellowships/Grants of various professional bodies/organizations including EASD 2017; BMRC, 2010; NST in the year of 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2017 respectively as a Principal Investigator; MOST, 2017 as a Co-Investigator; Bangladesh Scholarship Council (BSC) and the Nippon Foundation, Japan, for academic achievements.
Her research interest focused on Pathogenesis and Complications of Diabetes, Prediabetes and its related disorders, special interest on role of adipose tissue derived adipocytokines in the pathogenesis of prediabetes, NAFLD and other metabolic syndrome.
