Dr. Emanuele Sturlese born in Messina on 20 March 1956, graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Messina with full marks and honours on 16 April 1982; specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with full marks and honours at the same university in 1986. He obtained a PhD in Pathophysiology of Human Reproduction and Parental Diagnoses. Since 2 January 1991 he has been Research Fellow at the Complex Operative Unit of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the University Hospital “Gaetano Martino” in Messina. On 16 June 2011 he obtains a Master’s degree in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Surgery at the University of Pisa. He was professor at the School for Professional Nurses at the University of Messina the following subjects: Home Care; Infectious Diseases; Neurology and Haematology. He is Coordinator of the Degree Course of Obstetrics at the University of Messina and teaches the subject “Obstetrical and Gynaecological Pathology”. He is professor in the 6th year of the Degree Course of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Messina and at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th years of the School of Specialisation in Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the University of Messina. He took part in several conferences, theoretical and practical courses and international symposiums as speaker, moderator and discussant. He organised a course of Laparoscopic Surgery (theory and practice). He was education Coordinator and formed part of the Scientific and Organisational Secretary of several congresses. His scientific research is documented in more than 120 printed works published in national and international journals or presented at national and international congresses. Some of these concerning the use of Prostaglandins E2 in gel for the induction of labour; early Prenatal Diagnosis through the collection of chorionic villi; the study and treatment of the Cancer of the Endometrium; laparoscopic surgery in Gynaecology; the techniques of cryopreservation of oocytes and sperm; diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis; minimally invasive and robotic surgery and several other clinical and experimental research topics in Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
