Biography

Dr. Rizwan Ahmad B. Pharm, Ph. D, graduated with a bachelor of Pharmacy degree from University of Malakand, Chakdara, Khyber Pukhtoon khwa, Pakistan in the year 2005 whereas his split Ph. D degree was pursued in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry under the supervision of Prof. Luc Pieters (University of Antwerp, Belgium) and Prof. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed (University of Karachi, Pakistan). Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor and coordinator of “Natural products and Alternative Medicines” department at college of Clinical Pharmacy, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Rizwan Ahmad having more than 50 publications in peer reviewed and high impact (5.6) journals. He is a reviewer as well as an editorial board member for many journals since 2015.


Research Interest

Dr. Rizwan Ahmad's research interests are Natural products isolation, structure determination alongwith its pharmacological activities (AGEs inhibitor, antioxidant, Antidiabetics etc.), Herb-drug interactions, its in-vitro determination in animals and plasma quantification of drugs using advanced analytical instruments such as LC/MS, LC, UHPLC, ICPMS and GC/MS, The use of herbs, its knowledge, interactions and safety in community as well as health concerns related to natural products in students and common population, Clinical trials (Phase-I) for natural products in healthy individuals as well as patients. Currently, projects on clinical trials and herb-drug interactions and its safety in community, are in progress.
