Biography

Dr. Von Son de Fernex is a professor in the de Centre for Research, Teaching and Extension in Tropical Livestock of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnia of the National Autonomus University of México (CEIEGT-FMVZ-UNAM). She got a bachelor´s degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnia at the National Autonomus University of México in 2011. In 2012, the FMVZ-UNAM granted the award “Constantino Ordoñez” in Basic Sciences (2°) for her Bsci thesis. She started her master studies in 2011 and was promoted to the doctoral program of “Production and Animal Health Sciences” of the National Autonomus University of Mexico, for academic excellence; obtaining her degree with Honorable Mention in 2016. She undertook an eight months doctoral research stay at the Institute of Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin in Germany. Doctor von Son de Fernex has seven published papers, 19 oral presentations in national conferences and nine oral presentations in international conferences. Furthermore, in 2017 she was awarded a National Researcher Level 1 by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) Mexico for the period 2018-2020; which includes the admission to the National Research System (SNI).


Research Interest

Dr. Von Son de Fernex research focuses on the use of plants for Ethnoveterinary medicine with emphasis on parasitology, identification and elucidation of novel anthelmintic-like molecules from bioactive plants; along with the study of integrated systems for parasite control/prevention and the assessment of anthelmintic resistance.
