Dr. Punniyakoti Veeraveedu Thanikachalam is a Lecturer of International Medical University, was born in India, in 1978. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, India in 1999. In 2002, he got Master of Pharmacy degree with the specialization of Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Punjabi University, Patiala, India and then worked as lecturer till 2004 at BBD University, Lucknow, India. In 2008, he received his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, Niigata, Japan and then joined as a postdoctoral fellow in the same lab. Next, he moved to WPI Immunology Frontier Research Center, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan and did his postdoctoral research untill March 2013. Then, he obtained a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship for foreign researchers from the Japan Society for the Promotion Science (JSPS), did his JSPS postdoctoral research in Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. During his tenure in Japan for about 10 yrs, he attended various scientific conferences around the globe, received the best paper award from the Society for the Experimental Biology and Medicine and young investigator award from Japanese Circulation Society. He is currently working as a Lecturer (November 2014-till date) at School of Pharmacy, International Medical University, Malaysia. Dr. Punniyakoti is an active Member of Royal Society of Chemistry. He has attended several educational and technical workshops since, November 2014. At Malaysia.
Dr. Punniyakoti Veeraveedu Thanikachalam actively involved in doing research in the field of cardiovascular disease and guided 22 undergraduate, 3 Master, and 1 doctoral theses. He has published about 59 scientific papers, which were published in the international journal with h-index of 27. He is a reviewer and member of editorial board in a number of international journals. His main areas of research interest are cardiovascular disease, diabetic complications, inflammation and regenerative medicine.
