Dr Saravana Babu, is a Associate Prof in the Dept of Pharmacology, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS University, Mysore, India. He did his primary schooling in Sri Visa Convent, Chennai, India and higher secondary education in Dr GMTTV, Higher secondary Govt School, Chennai. He has completed his undergraduation and postgraduation in JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, India. Dr Babu done his PhD under the guidance of Prof Ramanathan, then Asst Prof, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, in 2008. After his doctorate, he joined in Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), Chennai, as Research Officer, with a job description to establish a preclinical research facility. He played a key role in establishing a state of art animal facility in SRU and applied for funds in various govt sectors and established various labs like cell and molecular biology lab, psychopharmacology lab, clinical chemistry, pathology, genetic toxicology. His research areas include preclinical models of Parkinsonism, Huntington's diseases, hypertension induced cognitive dysfunction, chemical models of amnesia. To his credit he has more than 50 publications in various high impact journals.
Dr Saravana Babu Chidambaram's Research interests are Studies on the neuroprotective chemicals and drugs in Parkinson's disease, sleep disorders, Alzheimer's disease Huntington's disease, Cerebral stroke in animal models , Role of mitochondrial proteins in neuroprotection and Regulatory toxicology.
