Irfan A. Mohammed obtained his Bachelors in Pharmacy from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India. He then graduated with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctoral degree in Pharmaceutics from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, University of the Sciences and working as a Research Scientist at Nevakar, LLC, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative products in the injectable and ophthalmic space. Irfan A. Mohammed’s research was focused on development, characterization and understanding the process variables in the preparation of stable polymeric nanoparticles using wet media milling. Furthermore, he also evaluated the drug release profile of the polymeric nanoparticles via dermatological/transdermal and oral drug delivery. His research was also focused on the optimization of dermatological drug delivery systems for enhanced drug release profiles and clinical efficacy with reduced levels of drug. Irfan A. Mohammed’s industrial experience is in the area of development and commercialization of innovative injectables and ophthalmic drug products, including aqueous, lyophilized, suspensions, emulsions formulations, pre-filled syringes/ combination products and infusion bags. His expertise also include manufacturing process development, scale-up activities and technology transfer.
Dr. Irfan A. Mohammed's reserach interests are Long acting injectables (Controlled or modified drug release), Implantable drug delivery devices, Tunable drug delivery/ release profiles, Targeted drug delivery, Nanotechnology in drug development and delivery, Lyophilization/ spray drying of nanosuspensions and large molecules, Optimization of topical and transdermal drug delivery and Strategies for enhancing solubility and bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs.
