Biography

I am Dr Md Yousof Ali and received my BS.c in 2010 and MS.c. in 2012 at the Dept. of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Islamic University Kushtia, Bangladesh. I have finished my PhD in 2016, at the Dept. of Food and Life Science, Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea. I have finished one year (2016-2017) postdoctoral fellow position, at the Dept. of Prescriptionology, College of Oriental Korean Medicine, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea. Currently, I am a Research Professor, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Arts and Science, Concordia University, Canada, as well as Center for Structural and Functional Genomic, Dept. of Biology, Faculty of Arts and Science, Concordia University, Canada. Currently I am working on discovery of secondary metabolites and development of Novel antibiotic from Microbial Sources. During my research project in PhD program, I was engaged in investigating of medicinal chemistry aiming their therapeutic potential in the area of different diseases including diabetes, Hepatoprotective, Alzheimer’s, inflammation, hypertension, and obesity. I published 33 research articles as a first author and co-authors. Successfully handling several research projects includes- (I) Drug development for Alzheimer’s disease (II) Isolation of bioactive principles from natural sources and elucidation of their mechanisms of action using different in vitro and in vivo experiments (III) Discovery novel types of PTP1B and α-glucosidase inhibitors from natural sources and elucidation of their mechanisms of action. I am a regular reviewer of “Journal of Chemico-Biological Interaction” and Phytotherapy Research.
