Dr. Juliane Silberschmidt Freitas is PhD in Animal Biology from Sao Paulo State University (UNESP, Sao José do Rio Preto, Brazil) at the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Part of her PhD was also held at University of California (UCR, Riverside, USA) at the Department of Environmental Sciences. She is researcher with pos doctoral position in the University of Sao Paulo (USP, São Carlos, Brazil), Department of Hydraulic and Sanitation, at the Center of Ecotoxicology and Applied Ecology. Her research focuses on understanding the influence of environmental chemicals on aquatic organisms, with particular interest in amphibians. She also has projects evaluating the effects of environmental factors in the toxicity of chemicals in ectotherms and the disruption effects of pesticides to non-target species. In her current project, she is investigating physical, chemical and biological consequences of pesticides use and pasture intensification in freshwater systems of tropical areas, considering studies in open ecosystem models. She is expertise in biochemical, molecular and histological biomarkers. Her studies in ecotoxicology are recognized globally and her contribution to this field includes articles in several Journals of great reputation. She is also a reviewer of renowned Journals of Environmental Toxicology field.
Dr. Juliane Silberschmidt Freitas' s Research interests are on ecotoxicology of amphibians and aquatic organisms from tropical areas, especially on understanding the physiological factors that influence susceptibility to environmental chemicals.
