Dr. Diana Lynn Barnes, PsyD is a psychotherapist in private practice who has been specializing in women’s reproductive mental health for 25 years. She is the editor of the definitive reference text Women’s Reproductive Mental Health Across the Lifespan. Her papers on different facets of pregnancy and postpartum-related mood disorders have been widely published. In addition to private practice, Dr. Barnes is a forensic expert and consultant for legal counsel on criminal cases involving infanticide, pregnancy denial, neonaticide and child abuse. Dr. Barnes is the 2009 recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Eli Lilly Foundation for her outstanding contributions to the field of women’s moods during the childbearing years.
Dr. Diana Lynn Barnes is interested in research pertaining to women’s vulnerability to mood disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She is currently examining pregnancy denial and concealment as part of a special interest group with the Marcé Society.
