Dr. Hafiz Ishfaq Ahmad is working as a Research Scientist at the Department of Animal Genetics and conservation, Guangdong Institute of Applied Biological Resources, Guangzhou, China since 24 December, 2018. He obtained his DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan with outstanding performances in 2013 and joined as Veterinary Officer in the Department of Livestock and Dairy development. Thereafter, he obtained his MS degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences with outstanding performances in 2015. During Masters studies, I have been selected as Research Assistant in the research project funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC). After postgraduate studies, he has been awarded Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarship. He completed his PhD degree in Animal Genetics and Evolution with outstanding performances from Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China in 2018. During his PhD course, he 7 research articles with high impact factor as a first author. He has a total of 42 Research and Review Articles published in National and International journals (among them 10 as a first author). His research group is dedicated to epidemiological investigation, immune regulation and developmental biological research to serve the wildlife conservation and captive breeding. We are responsible for more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects on the pathogen investigation and developmental biological research. In recent years, more than 10 projects have been finished, including “Innovation Team of Surveillance and Control of Pathogens in Special Economic Animals”, “The Genetic Diversity and Early Warning of Zoonotic Pathogens in Bats Using High-throughput Sequencing”, “The Genetic Diversity and Molecular Comparative Analysis between the Brown Fruit Bats and Greater Short-nosed Fruit Bats”. His research group have published more than 100 research papers in the field of molecular ecology, pathogen detection and wildlife conservation. Furthermore, we have well equipped stress physiology and as well as molecular biology laboratories (Labs). His Lab contains not only commonly used instruments but also a specific instrumentation room e.g. computer with scanners, microcomputers, a DNA sequence facility with an automated capillary sequencer. And also, a core facility with an Oligonucleotide synthesizer, Northern blot analysis, a Transmission Electron Microscopy, confocal microscopy suite and RT-PCR analyzer. He has been serving as an Editorial Board member and as a peer reviewer of several International journals. He has attended many National and International conferences.
