Biography

Dr. Pedro L. Del Valle completed his undergraduate work in Marine Biology in Colombia, an MS in Environmental Toxicology and a Ph.D. in Toxicology at the University of Maryland. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences (ATS). Dr. Del Valle has worked in early discovery, lead optimization and nonclinical development of small molecule pharmaceuticals and biologics with more than 20 years of experience in general toxicology, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicology studies and in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and regulatory toxicology. He has been a session chair of symposia and workshops, invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings, and he lectures at the National Institute of Health (NIH) graduate programs. Dr. Del Valle received the Distinguished Toxicologist Award from the Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists (SOT-HOT), for outstanding and inspiring work, scientific achievements, leadership, and service in the field of toxicology and several other awards for his outstanding leadership work on different components of professional societies. He is currently a member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT), American College of Toxicology (ACT), Academy of Toxicological Sciences (ATS), Birth Defects Research & Prevention (BDRP) society, and the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS).


Research Interest

Dr. Del Valle's current role is in the Regulatory Toxicology area with oncology and hematology benignancy drug development. He is interested in drug development of small molecules and biologics, nonclinical safety assessment studies covering pharmacology, general, developmental and reproductive toxicology, and GLP regulations.
