Dr. Mukund Srinivasan is a Research Scientist in the Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, USA. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Mysore, Karnataka, India, and a Master of Science in Medical Biochemistry at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, Manipal, India. He earned a Ph.D. in Medicine at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, Mangalore, India. He has been awarded Dr. T.M.A Pai gold medal for excellence in research at Manipal University, India. He has carried out his postdoctoral studies at the University of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia, USA, and University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, USA. He has been awarded the Dr. Robert L Harrison award in recognition of postdoctoral work at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, USA. He has been an active member of the Research Society on Alcoholism (RSA), International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA), American Pancreatic Association (APA), and American Gastroenterological Association (AGA)
Dr. Mukund Srinivasan's interested fields of research are Pancreatic and hepatic disorders, type 2 diabetes and complications, obesity, and alcohol-associated organ damages. His present research focuses on understanding the mechanism(s) and metabolic basis for alcoholic chronic pancreatitis and identifying a therapeutic target.
