Dr. Thereza Christina Lopes Coutinho is a pediatric dentist and orthodontist with a Postdoc in Cariology and a PhD in Pediatric Dentistry from University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry of School of Dentistry at Fluminense Federal University in Brazil, where she coordinates several disciplines and mentors undergraduate and post-graduate students. Furthermore, she is also Head of ZEUS Research Group where she investigates factors related to dental caries and erosion and also the prevention of these diseases. She is a member of Research and Ethics Committee of School of Medicine at the same University and holds a membership in Cariology Group of International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and is member of the European Organization for Caries Research (ORCA). She is also a reviewer of Journal of Trauma & Treatment, Journal of Updates in Paediatric Dentistry and Dentistry: Current Research. She is member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Socialomics and Journal of Updates in Paediatric Dentistry. Her research interests include Cariology, Caries diagnosis, Fluoride, Erosion, Saliva, Oral Microbiology, Oral Pathology in children and Dental Traumatology. She has published nearly 40 papers, mostly in the Cariology fieldand is now coordinating several researches related to the role of MMPs on dental erosion and also the use of fluoride products in the control of enamel de-remineralization process.
