Dr. Waeil Elmisalati earned his degree in dentistry at Garyounis University in Libya in 2007. He continued his education as a post-doctoral fellow in Oral Biology from 2007-2009. In 2011, Dr. Elmisalati joined the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity as a visiting research fellow, and later as a graduate resident at the prestigious Harvard University completing his Master of Medical Science degree (M.M.Sc.) and Advanced Graduate Education Certificate (C.A.G.E.) in Periodontology in 2015. Dr. Elmisalati authored several textbook chapters and published articles in peer- reviewed journals. He also serves on the editorial boards of several national and international medical and dental journals. Dr. Elmisalati is also an ambassador for the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Foundation. He is a board eligible of the American Board of Periodontology (ABP). Dr. Elmisalati was involved in extensive clinical research in periodontics at Harvard University, which helped him earn awards and scholarships including The American Academy of Periodontology Fellowship Award. He is an active member of many professional associations including American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, and the International Association for Dental Research. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, cycling, alpine skiing, hiking, and traveling.
