Dr. Robert L. Karlinsey holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA, and Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship also at Indiana University, he accepted a visiting assistant professorship at the Oral Health Research Institute, a prominent research arm of the Indiana University School of Dentistry. During this time he embarked on studies of various calcium phosphate additives for improved prevention against tooth decay. Indiana Nanotech, LLC, which Dr. Karlinsey presently serves as Managing Member, was then formed in October 2006 to further refine the most-promising calcium phosphate research, where he enjoyed mentorship under distinguished emeritus professor Dr. George Stookey. During this time, he created the functionalized tricalcium phosphate system, a remineralizing agent which is customized for optimum performance according to the purpose and use of the topically applied dental fluoride preparation. He is an expert in mineralization processes and therapies, holds several patents, presents globally, enjoys international and interdisciplinary collaborations, and publishes in multiple fields including dentistry, orthopedics, chemistry, materials science, and physics. As Principle Investigator he has received major grants and contracts from National Institutes of Health, the states of Indiana and Texas, and Global Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Karlinsey is a key opinion leader for 3M Oral Care, a respected global leader in restorative and preventive dental therapies, which markets several topical preparations containing Nanotech’s functionalized tricalcium phosphate technology (known as ‘fTCP’ or ‘TCP’), including ClinproTM 5000, ClinproTM Tooth Crčme and ClinproTM White Varnish with TCP.
