Dr. Alex Boye holds BSc degree in biological science from the University of Cape Coast (Ghana), M.Phil. Pharmacology from KNUST (Ghana) and Ph.D. in pharmacology from Anhui Medical University (China). He has contributed to the cause of science through the apprenticeship of teaching, research and supervision.
At the undergraduate level, He has taught courses such as, introductory pharmacology, toxicology, drug metabolism, physiology and medical genetics to a wide range of students including nurses, human biology students, medical laboratory science students and medical students.
In the course of his teaching career, he has supervised over 150 undergraduate student projects and co-supervised many masters’ projects.
Drawing on his rich experiences from teaching and research, He has carried out many research works in natural products, pharmacology, toxicology and microbiology. As a result, he has published many original research articles, mini-reviews, reviews and topic highlights in renowned international journals. He has delivered many international conference papers and continues to receive many invitations as guest speaker for many conferences.
In addition to been a special guest editor for Biomed Research International for a special issue on Toxicology, Dr. Alex Boye has also been a reviewer for many journals including, Environmental toxicology and pharmacology, Journal of Medical and Biological Science Research, Cogent medicine just to mention but a sample. He doubles as a member of many local and international professional associations.
Dr. Alex Boye takes special interest in natural products, pharmacology, and ecotoxicology and cancer biology. Currently, his research focus is on identification and mechanistic elucidation of indigenous medicinal herbs having cytotoxic and anti-hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) effects.
He is passionate about research, collaboration, and advancing the frontiers of science and medicine through scientific communication.
