Dr. Christian Agyare obtained his doctorate from University of Muenster, Germany and an alumnus of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) degrees from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
He has been a post-doctoral fellow at University of California San Francisco, California and the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research, Boston, USA. He was appointed a Lecturer at KNUST in 2003 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2011 and to Associate Professor in 2016. He research areas are search for antimicrobial, wound healing and anti-inflammatory agents from medicinal plants and natural products. He also researches on antibiotic resistance in animals and humans.
He has more than 55 publications in peer-review journals, 50 articles published in conference proceedings and has co-authored three (3) book chapters. He is a reviewer for more 50 peer-review journals and an editorial member of 8 international journals.
He is currently the Head of Quality Assurance and Planning Unit of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and also a Member of the Academic Board of the same University. He is an External examiner at Department of Pharmacy and Complementary Medicine, Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. He is also an external assessor of Banasthali University/Vidyapith, Rajasthan, India. He is a member of Board of Directors of Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research. He is a Pharmacist and Immediate Past Chairman of Academic, Social and Research Pharmacists’ Association and an Executive member of Standing Executive Committee (SEC) and National Governing Board of Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH). He is the Head of External Relations Directorate of the Society (PSGH). He is a member of Global Young Academy (GYA) and Membership Selection Committee of GYA since 2012. He is also a foundation member of Ghana Young Academy (GhYA).
