Biography

Dr. Chiara Ciardiello was born in 1985 in Naples, Italy. In 2011 she got Master degree in Medical Biotechnology at the University of Naples Federico II. In January 2015, she got PhD in Medical Oncology and Clinical Immunology at Second University of Naples. During her PhD program, she spent almost a year (from January to November 2014) working abroad as visiting graduated student at Cedars Sinai Medical Center (CSMC), Los Angeles, CA. Since 2015, she is a Post Doc Fellow in the Experimental Pharmacology Unit of the National Cancer Institute Fondazione G. Pascale-IRCCS (Naples, Italy). To date, during her scientific experience at CSMC, she explored extracellular vesicles role in cancer, focusing on their function in prostate cancer development. Chiara is a member of several scientific societies: the Italian Cancer Society (SIC), the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), the Italian Society of Biophysics and Molecular Biology (SIBBM) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Recently, her research project on Prostate Cancer has been funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC), being awarded with a 3-year fellowship (2017-2019). The project is focused to define novel molecules expressed by large extracellular vesicles implicated in prostate cancer progression and resistance.
