Dr. Naiara Stefanello was born in Pinhal Grande, Brazil on 12th February 1988. After her graduation in Pharmacy (2011), she has been a Master Course in Toxicology Biochemistry, Santa Maria University (UFSM), Brazil. From January 2011 to August 2012. After, she has been a doctorate Course in Toxicology Biochemistry, Santa Maria University, Brazil. From August 2011 to December 2016, associated with doctorate sandwich at Università degli studio de Ferrara (UNIFE), Italy from February 2015 to December 2015. At the present, she is Researcher and Post Doctorate student at Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, UFSM. Her research topics encompass different research fields: She has experience in studies correlating animal models of type 1 diabetes mellitus and natural compounds treatment in different tissues. In addition, it has studied the changes promoted by hyperglycemia in different signaling pathways, such as purinergic and cholinergic system, as well as oxidative alterations in the liver, kidney, central nervous system and vascular system. It has studied mainly the effects of resveratrol, chlorogenic acid and coffee in the reversal of changes promoted by hyperglycemia. Due to the long period as researcher in the department of Biochemistry, she has also participated in other studies correlated with neurodegenerative diseases in the central nervous system of patients or animal models, as well as in studies of different types of cancers in patients. She has publications in prestigious international journals.
