Biography

Dr. Silvia Leone MD graduated in "Medicine and Surgery" in 2010 from Genoa University with the highest honors (summa cum laude) and an Academic Medal at the age of 24. She is currently attending her final year at the Post-Graduate School in Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology in Genoa, and working as a Medical Doctor in the Accident and Emergency Department at the "Galliera Hospital" in the same city. She has been working as an Emergency Doctor since January 2014 and cooperating with the main Alcohological Centre in the Liguria Region since 2011. She has published 30 papers as Author or Co-Author, and has attended around 20 Congresses (EAPCCT, BTS, NACCT, IALFS, MEMC-GREAT etc.) all over the world, presenting approximately 20 posters. She was Speaker in Turin at the Simeu (the Italian Society of Emergency Medicine) Congress (October 2014), at the BTS Congress (the British Toxicology Society) in Birmingham (April 2015), and in Vienna at the 7th Pharmacovigilance and Pharmaceutical Industry Congress (August 2016). She recently received the title of "Chief Cruise Doctor" (July 2016) after a competitive exam held in Rome, Italy at the Ministry of Health. She became "Co-Editor-in-Chief" at the "Journal of Digestive Diseases and Hepatology" in October 2016. In November 2016, she attended the "Update in Medical Toxicology", part of the Medical Toxicology MSc programme in Cardiff, which was organized by Cardiff and Vale University and supported by the AWTTC (All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre) and the WTPU (Welsh National Poison Unit). In November 2016, she also attended the National Congress of Italian Emergency Medicine with two posters and two oral communications. She is a member of BTS, EAPCCT, NACCT, APAMT, and AAEM. She will finish post-graduate school in July 2017. She is going to participate at the next BTS Congress in Liverpool in April 2017 with an oral communication.
