Biography

Dr. Catherine a Picut (VMD, JD, DACVP, DABT) is a senior pathologist at Charles River Laboratories/Pathology Associates in Durham, North Carolina with 25 years’ experience as a veterinary anatomic pathologist. Dr. Picut received a V.M.D. (summa cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, completed a residency in veterinary anatomic pathology at Cornell University in 1988, and received a J.D from Yale Law School in 1992. She is certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and by the American Board of Toxicology. His area of expertise includes preclinical toxicity testing, especially in the areas of developmental neurotoxicity, developmental and reproductive toxicity, and juvenile toxicity studies in rodents and large laboratory animals. Immunohistochemistry, morphometry and stereology are techniques commonly used in her practice. She has a stellar record of scientific and academic accomplishments with numerous publications in highly prestigious journals and books, and has given numerous invited webinars and presentations at both national and international conferences. She is co-editor of the Atlas of Histology of the Juvenile Rat, and has most recently completed book chapters on immunopathology of the urinary system and the male and female reproductive systems, as well as an invited review of pre- and post-natal development of the male reproductive system.
