Biography

Dr. Mariana Veras is a tenured Senior Research Scientist at the Laboratory of Experimental Air Pollution, School of Medicine (FM_USP) and invited Professor at the Veterinary Medicine School (FMVZ_USP) at University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Doctor of Philosophy (Experimental Pathology–FM_USP), Master of Science (Comparative Anatomy, FMVZ_USP) and Specialist in Embryology, Toxicologic Pathology and Environmental Pathology. Her research interest include the toxicity of environment contaminants (air pollution,pesticides), recreational drugs (marijuana) and pharmaceutical drug (tenofovir, allopurinol). She has been developing and working with animal models that mimic real world human exposures to better understand the effects across generations. She has received Young Investigator Awards from different institution (IUTOX, ISEE, IFPA). As a reference author in the area of reproductive toxicity of air pollution, she has 4 book chapters published, articles in high impact journals and has visiting scientist and consulting position in different firms (BASF, BRASKEM) and universities (UFU, UNIP, NYU).
