Dr. Simon K. KYAEMBA-KAY’S, MBBS, MD, FMH was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, graduated from G.R Medical College, Gwalior, India in 1985. He completed his MD training in Paediatrics at Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble, France in 1990 (distinction). Had several placements as Consultant Paediatrician in Guadeloupe, Martinique and metropolitan France, before undergoing a clinical fellowship in Neonatal Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, London in 1998 (Late Prof. David Harvey). Worked as Clinical Lead in Neonatal Medicine, Honorary lecturer at Poitiers University Teaching Hospital, France (2001 – 2010). Trained in Paediatric endocrinology at Tours University, followed by a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric endocrinology at Middlesex and Great Ormond Street Hospitals, London (Prof. Peter Hindmarsh) 2004, and became clinical lead at Poitiers University teaching hospital (2002 – 2010) before spending a sabbatical year at Lausanne University Teaching Hospital (2010 – 2011). He was appointed as Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Paediatric endocrinology by the Dean, University College, London (2004 – 2007).
Was Head of Paediatrics and Paediatric endocrinology, Medical Director of Clinical Research Unit (URC28) at Victor Jousselin Hospital (2011 – 2016).
His actual position is Head of Paediatrics Department, Centre Hospitalier du Valais Romand, Sion, Switzerland.
He is a member of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, the French Paediatric Endocrinology Society, the Musculoskeletal Society, Europaediatrics, the Developmental Endocrinology Research Group, Paediatrics and Neonatal Healthcare Professionals in Europe, French Neonatal Society, etc. and has 82 publications.
He is married and father of a teenager boy.
