Biography

Dr. Marta Farras (BSc, MSc, PhD) is a Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher at the Computational and Systems Medicine Division of Imperial College London where she is studying the metabolomics of malnutrition-enteric infection cycle. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biomedicine (2015) under the supervision of Dr. Montserrat Fito at "IMIM-Institut Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mediques / Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona". During her PhD she studied the beneficial effects of phenol-enriched olive oils on HDL functionality and endothelial function in cardiovascular risk humans. In addition, she performed a stay to analyse the metabolomic effects of these olive oils, at the Food Science Department of the University of Reading (UK) (2013). Throughout her research career, she has published over a dozen peer-review publications in high impact journals, presented several communications in international conferences, and co-invented a technology transfer. Furthermore, she has also participated in numerous national and international projects, received various competitive fellowships, supervised various BSc/MSc students, and served as a reviewer for scientific journals in her field.
