Dr. Freitas is a neuroscientist with extensive expertise in in vitro and in vivo models of mental illnesses, especially Major depression and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is currently a Postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). She completed her Master’s and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). She also received research training as a visiting scholar at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), and had a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (USA). She has outstanding records of scientific and academic accomplishments with several publications in highly prestigious journals and various presentations in both national and international conferences.
