Dr Licia Pensabene, born in Catanzaro (Italy), undertook her undergraduate medical training at the Reggio Calabria University (1994). She went on to complete her postgraduate paediatric training at the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro (2000) and her PhD in Pediatric Gastro-endocrinology at the University of Parma (2005). In 2001 Dr Pensabene went on to complete a Research Fellowship (2001-2002) at the Gastrointestinal Motility Center, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. She then obtained an Institutional License from the State of Board of Medicine - Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a Faculty Position as Instructor of Medicine at the Dept. of Pediatric Gastroenterology, University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA (2002-2003). In 2003 Dr Pensabene went on to complete a research fellowship at the Motility Center, Dept. of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School of Boston, USA (2003-2004) and in 2011, she went on to complete a clinical fellowship at the Dept. of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Sheffield Children’s Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield, UK. In 2005 Dr Pensabene was appointed as Assistant Professor (Researcher) in Pediatrics at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro and in 2015 as Pediatric Gastroenterology Consultant, Dept. of Pediatric Gastroenterology (Neuro-gastro & Motility Unit), Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, in London, UK, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University College of London (2015-2016). Since 2016 she is Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro.
Dr Pensabene has authored more than 50 articles in International peer-reviewed Journals, 4 book chapters, and more than 50 presentations in International/National Meetings.
