Dr. Marisa Cabeza is a researcher and professor at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco. Dr. Cabeza has been a postgraduate professor in biochemistry, biomedical sciences, physiology, and other disciplines related to the medical sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana. She is the author of many publications in international journals, three books, as well as many book chapters related to hormones. He obtained a patent related to the production of anti-acne ointment containing steroid hormones. Dr. Cabeza has focused his research in the field of the biological effects of new steroidal compounds and works together with the group that she directs in the development of cancer cells, where she also tests steroidal compounds of new synthesis. This research aims to find molecules with potential therapeutic use as antiandrogens and inhibitors of enzymes involved in steroidogenesis, to improve diseases such as benign prostatic hypertrophy and prostate cancer.
