Ramón Escuriet Born in 1968, Ramón Escuriet is a Midwife and Doctor in Biomedicine by the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences of the Pompeu Fabra University -PFU-. He currently works as lecturer in the Mar Nursing School - affiliated centre of PFU - and also in the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya where he coordinates the Normal Childbirth Care Program for public hospitals. His work involves a wide range of activities ranging from planning to research in health services. He is a member of the Teaching Committee for the Theoretical Program of Midwives in Catalonia, Secretary of the Advisory Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health Department of Health, member of the Institutional Committee of the Strategy for Reproductive Health and Vice-chair of the National Commission of Midwives of the Spanish Ministry of Health. Internationally, he has participated in various European projects and is currently Vice-Chair of the project COST Action 1405. BIRTH “Building Intrapartum Research Through Health.”
He is an active collaborator in the Centre for Research in Health and Economics. His field of study focuses on the organization of maternity health services and is currently the principal researcher of the MIDCONBIRTH study.
