Osama M. Ahmed, (born in November 24, 1970) is a professor of physiology at Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University and Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Nahda University, Beni-Suef, Egypt. He has granted Ph. D. in Physiology from Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt at year 2000. He holds more than 82 publications in the fields of his expertise in international journals. He has written two book chapters titled "Recent Advances in Chemistry and Biology of Natural Products" and "a New Look Hypothyroidism". He has honored state incentive (encouragement) award and Beni-Suef University excellence award at 2014. He has been chosen as one of the leading scientists of the world (2009) and as one of the top hundred scientists in the arena of physiology (2010) by International Biographical Center (IBC), Cambridge, England. He is a deputy-editor of Beni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences (BJBAS). He is an editorial board member in many international journals and is a member in many societies and committees. He is a principal investigator and co-investigator in many research projects.
His research interests are: diabetes mellitus (type 1, type 2 and neonatal diabetes mellitus), maternal hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism effects on fetuses and offspring, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, and assessment of medicinal plant and their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies.
