Graduated in 1989 with TMA Pai and Colgate gold medals and been a teacher and researcher since 1992 with 248 scientific research articles in internationally indexed Journals. Teaching from last 25 years has guided 37 and co-guided 99 post graduate students. A recognized PhD guide with 4 candidates awarded PhD and 4 registered candidates. Her special interest in the field of “saliva as a biochemical indicator” in Dental Caries, Chronic renal failure, Diabetic Mellitus and HIV is of great value as a non- invasive diagnostic tool. She has authored a Complete Text book of Endodontics and also 3 handbooks on “Recent concepts of Dentistry”. She has presented guest lecturers in 5 International Conferences and 23 National conferences. She is the recipient of highest Civilian Award in the field of medicine- Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2011. She also has received Dentist excellence award 2013 Instituted by Indian Dentist Research and Review, Dr. J.G. Kannappan Award by the International Association for Dental Research and Indian Society for Dental Research 2013, Women Dentist Achiever of the year awarded by Indian Dental Association and Women Dental Council (2010). She is also a recipient of Fellowship awarded by International College of Dentists (U.S.A.- 2011) and Pierre Fauchard Academy (U.S.A.- 2002). She is the past president of Indian Dental Association, Dakshina Kannada Branch, Vice president of Indian Endodontic Society and Indian Association of Conservative dentistry & Endodontics Presently she is serving as Member of Society of Biological Scientists of India, Indian Society for Dental Research- Indian Division and Editorial Board member of 17 indexed journals.
