Professor Nabil H H Bashir (19/3/1949) is a Sudanese citizen working for the University of the Gezira (U of G), Wad Medani, central Sudan. Graduated from the Department of Entomology (B.Sc. Hon.), Faculty of Agriculture, U of Alexandria, Egypt (1971), M.Sc. from the same department "Studies of Esterases" 1974. Ph.D. from U of Arizona (USA) "Metabolism of Permethrin by the green lacewing, Chrysopa carnea Stephens (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) 1982. Appointed as an Assistant Prof, U of G (1982-1986), Associate Prof. (1986-1993) and Professor 1/1/ 1993 to date. Head, Dept. of Crop Protection (1988-190). Established the Dept. of Pesticides & Toxicology and became the first head (1999-2007). Chairman of Society of Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry (SETAC) Africa (2011-2013), Founder and the first Chairman of Sudanese Pest Management Society of the Sudan (SPMS) ;currently Chairman of Gezira State Environment Conservation Society (ECS) .Executive Committee Member of the African network for Chemical Analysis of Pesticides (ANCAP), East and Southern Africa Laboratory Manager Association (E-SALAMA), African Association of Insect Scientists (AAIS), International Relations officer for the Sudanese Natural Products Society. Worked as a Scientist (Researcher) Department of Entomology, Agricultural Research Corporation, Sudan (1975-1977). Seconded to the National Center for Research, Environment & Natural Resources Institute (1994-1996). Participated in 63 conferences , symposia and workshops national, regional and international. Published three text books ( in Arabic): General Entomology, Pesticides, and Introduction to Insect Physiology. Also published 98 scientific papers in national, regional and international journals , in addition to the proceedings of the conferences/ symposia Supervised 110 M.Sc. & Ph.D. candidate (1984-2017) nationals from different Sudanese universities & regionally (Africans).External Examiner for several student internally & Externally; reviewer for several chemistry, toxicology & Crop Protection journals. Member of the Editorial Board for several local, regional & international periodicals. Currently , for the last 5 yr working as a supervisor and team leader for the Dept. of Medical Entomology & Vector Control (ME&VC), Blue Nile National Institute for Communicable Diseases (BNNICD), U of Gezira. Consultant for UNEP-Chemical Division, GEF roster member (Persistent Organic Pollutants/ Persistent Toxic Substances), The National Pesticides Committee (NPC), The Higher Council for Environment & Natural Resources (HCENR), The Gezira State Minister of Agriculture.
