Dr. Amjad (born June 1, 1982 in Swat, Pakistan) is a researcher recognized in the field of microbial genomics. Dr. Amjad has studied in many universities and hold degrees in BS and MPhil in biotechnology and, PhD in microbial genetics and genomics, and biotechnology (2013) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais Brazil. In short span of time, Dr. Amjad has published more than 50 publications in prestigious journals with citations of more than 350 with H-index 11. Currently, Dr. Amjad is working as an Assistant Professor at one of the top ranked university at Pakistan, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
Dr. Amjadís current research focuses on genomics and systems biology approached to understand the complex biological process and systems. From genomics perspective is to explore the pathogenís genome dynamics, structure and function, the mechanism of virulence and resistance and, from a systems biology viewpoint to get a comprehensive understanding of the biological processes such as host-pathogen-interactions, infections and disease progression through identification, modeling and simulation of transcriptional regulatory networks and signalling pathways. Microbial genomics approaches such as pan-genomics and reverse vaccinology approaches for prediction of potential alternative therapeutic targets (vaccines and drugs) against bacterial pathogens.
