I am Prabhat Singh. I have completed my Ph.D. from Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), India and working as a Project Scientific Officer in the Department of Biological Sciences, IISER-Berhampur, India. My Ph.D. project entitled “Evaluation of Toxic Effects of Certain Flavonoids” was centred on an important issue of toxicological potential of dietary agents. In this project, I identified the toxicity profile of certain flavonoids in different organs of mouse strain by employing recent molecular biology techniques like microarray, q real time PCR, flow cytometry and western blot. The entire microarray data of these experiments is freely available at Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) for future explorations. Apart from this, I have developed Lithocholic acid-induced Cholestatic swiss-mouse model for assessment of the protective effect of flavonoids and validated this work in to in vitro models (Hep 3B and Hep G2 cell lines). As a group member, I worked on toxicity assessment of certain anti-malarial drugs and biomarker investigation for early detection of urinary bladder cancer. Some of my findings have been published and few in advanced stages of publication or communication. During my postdoctoral work at IISER- Bhopal, I was exploring the effects of Ebselen at molecular level. I am carrying over the findings of this study and now trying to explore the possible involvement of TOR and DNA damage response pathway in ebselen-induced perturbation.
Prabhat Singh research interest is potpourri of molecular toxicology and cancer chemoprevention. My research curiosity is oriented towards the identification of action mechanism of naturally occurring compounds.
