Biography

Dr. Abdullah Gibriel is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, The British University in Egypt (BUE). He obtained his B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University in Egypt. Dr. Gibriel was offered a PhD scholarship from the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), Strathclyde University (United Kingdom) to study visual transduction proteins and their involvement in retinal degeneration. In 2008, Dr. Gibriel was granted the PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He then joined the University of Glasgow as a postdoctoral scientist for more than 2 years in a project that aimed at designing microarray and RT-PCR sensor platforms for monitoring cell signaling using unique reporter system with multiplexed transcriptional libraries of plasmids. Dr. Gibriel has strong record of international publications in high impact factor and peer reviewed journals. He is supervising many M.SC and PhD students and has obtained research grants, awards and appreciation certificates. He has been serving as a member of editorial board for a number of peer reviewed journals. He is also a member of several scientific societies that are well recognized internationally.


Research Interest

Abdullah Gibriel Research Interests are To understand how cells communicate and cross-talk to each other and to investigate the nature of protein interactions in cell signaling pathways in various disorders such as (Cancer; Retinitis Pigmentosa; Liver associated diseases; Obesity; Oxidative stress and inflammation). To develop biochemical assays for monitoring and evaluation of drugs and medicinal plants effect on various diseases. To identify potential biomarkers for early diagnosis, monitoring and/or prognosis of disease severity.
