C Modesto is PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of the Basque Country (Euskal Herriko Unibersitatea). Specialist in Pediatrics (1988) and Specialist in Rheumatology since 2002, she completed first a Master's degree in Pediatric Rheumatology at the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto and afterwords a second Master’s degree in Paris at the Réné Descartes University, while developing her research and training at Hôpital Necker Enfants-Malades. She is part of the Research Institute of the Vall d'Hebron Hospital and is responsible for the Pediatric Rheumatology Unit, both in the Pediatric and Adult areas. Responsible of the "transition" consultation, that agglutinates those patients entering into adulthood having started their illness during childhood. Her teaching activity has been developed at the University of Navarre, University of Barcelona, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), and has been selected by the Spanish Society of Rheumatology as professor of the Master's Degree in Pediatric Rheumatology at the Open University of Catalonia. She has participated in numerous congresses and courses of Pediatrics and Rheumatology, both national and international. She collaborates regularly in the creation and edition of the different manuals of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology and textbooks of Pediatrics. She is a member of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Rheumatology (SERPE) and the European Society of Pediatric Rheumatology (PReS) among others. Published in 2010 the first epidemiological study regarding incidence and prevalence of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis in Catalonia. She is a member of the Adviser Medical Council of the Lliga Catalana de Reumatologia, the catalan association for patients suffering from rheumatic diseases.
